A Beauuuuutiful Flash!

This is a very weird flash, describing France in the form of a weird French figure. It was a good flash in connection to what it was about though. I dont know if it was meant to be funny but i found it lol worthy. ^_^

The graphics were nice, clean and well coloured, not much i can say about that really. I noticed the figures had a slight blurriness about them though. It could of just been my moniter. The animation was smooth, not very much of it though, some more facial movement and perhaps some lip synching would of made this alot better.

Sound was pretty good, the French national anthem is a nice one :) I'd recommend you get a better microphone as yours wasnt of the best quality, a good bit of static. Apart from that the voice acting was done very well, but work on your French accent as it sounded a little forced, even though your from Belgium! ;P

Overall a nice little flash, and very cool for your first submission, im hoping to see more from you, also your better off animating in flash as the file size will be smaller, i think its the conversion which caused the blurriness. ^_^

Thank you very much, that was pretty helpful.

I'm pretty sure though that the bad sound quality wasn't caused by my microphone but that it's because of the conversion. Though when listening to the original wmv and avi files, there's a bit of cracking in there too. However, usually my microphone does record sound quite reasonably, so I'll see what I can do about that. And did my accent really sound that forced? I was also trying to make my voice a bit more heavy and raspy so that might be it too.
Yes, when it comes to animation it's not the best thing ever, seeing as I made it in an afternoon and just for a school assignment (and well yeah my teacher'd be impressed at anything, lol). I just made one that had even less animation for school last week, but everyone liked it.
But I'm not sure if I could learn to work in Flash. I love Moho, which is what I'm working in, and it does have this 'export to swf' function, except it does not render in images, and it seems to forget sound as well. I also usually export in individual scenes for longer movies which makes it easier for me to edit them in other programs (that only work with avis or wmvs, alas)

But thank you very much for this review, very helpful.

Pretty Cool!

This was a pretty cool flash and the story intrigued me, who were they murdering and why? You could get out of the whole executed thing by making a prequel to this, I think it would fit well and i'd like to see one. :)

The graphics were nice, nicely drawn characters with good detail, Pretty cool art style as well. What was up with the monkey though? The animation was pretty fluid throughout the whole thing. Nicely done. The lip synching was very good. It seemed all in time. I hate it when the sound doesnt fit with the mouth movements so well done. ^_^

Audio was good, The voice acting was cool and sounded good, also it was very clear which is good. The music was good, Linkin park and what was the emo band called? Good lip synching for the music scene as well.

There were a few bad things about this flash. First problem was the stroyline, gives no backround information which leaves the viewer slightly lost to whats going on. Secondly was the music scene. It was cool but far far too long, Shorten it because it seems its put in there as a filler to make the flash longer.

Overall it was good, i found the funniest bit was where the monkey went black and claimed he went emo. When in doubt, go emo!! But this was a relatively funny flash and i liked it. Looking forward to seeing more of your work. ^_^

Thanks for the review. I should've filled in a bit more in the story and the emo band was Good Charlotte.

Emotional.

I liked this flash, it seemed sad at first but ended happily and lovingly, Its not bad for your first submission and once you work on certain aspects of your flash making, your movies will be much better. I liked this though and you captured the emotional aspect of the piece extremely well.

Graphically it was ok, for a first flashthe graphics were good, and i suggest just drawing things in flash to get better with your artistic skills. The colouring in the flash was amazing, its not the fact that you used greyscale (used to great effect) but its the dashes of colour you put in, the circles on the calender, and the colour of the flower. These really made the simple style of the piece stand out alot.
The animation wasnt bad, but once again maybe practice on short flashes that you dont submit, just to enhance your skills. Because in this the animation was a bit stiff.

The sound was good, a nice slow melody helped capture the emotional tension throughout it, and the lack of sound effects is something i only noticed once the movie was over, which means you didnt need to have them as the backing audio does it all.

Overall i liked this, however i had to watch the flash twice to catch what was written on the note hat his girlfriend left him, as it moves across the screen too fast. This is a very good flash despite the simple style and still animation, because the back story and emotion in it are so good and are captured so well. Very Good.

i'm glad you rated the sound so high... i put most effort into that... and those are very fair scores otherwise... tyvm for the review~!

Not bad.

Sprite movies...These have to be good for me to personally like them and this was ok, but nothing spectacular. I can see this is your first submission so i guess i can cut you some slack. My first question is why? Why did Mario and Samus suddenly fight on a Metroid based homeworld, doesnt really make any sense. You need to work on storylines. :)

Graphically this was good, sprites usually look good and its hard to make a sprite look out of proportion or badly coloured so theres not much i can say about this in the way of graphics. The animation was decent enough, could of been a bit smoother in the running and jumping though. One thing that bothered me is Samus seemed to be running really slow. :P
I liked the speech, putting the dialogue in those litle boxes looks far more professional than speech bubbles and such. Makes it much easier to read as well.

The sound was good, music is fast paced and fits well witht he panicked start, and the classic metroid music is good too. The sound effects are great, put in well and they all fit great. I especially liked the sound of Samus's gun clicking as it was empty, and Mario's fireballs. Also i liked the explosions :P

Overall not a bad sprite flash for a beginner, you need to work slightly on your animation and also on your plot and basic storyline, otherwise its hard to keep people watching. But i liked it. :)

PicosGhost responds:

Yea, i know it really wasn't spectacular. But remember ,this was in '05, I'm not sure whether or not V-Cam was available yet. Thanks for the slack! Haha. But, as for the "why", that will be explained in my sequel, I promise.

Yea, most sprite movie graphics are all the same stuff :P But I never get tired of the retro look. I actually never played Metroid before '05! Thats why Samus was running so slow. But in my sequel, I think she may still run slow. You know, to keep shit on an even-keel with Mario's speed. Or I might give her a scene where she gets a power-up or something. Not too sure yet :P. I'm glad you liked the dialogue technique. Most people I've spoken to have liked it, so I won't disappoint in my sequel.

Thanks, can't say much about the sound that I haven't already adressed in earlier reviews, but I'm glad everyone thinks it was all well placed. Doing that took a chunk of time to make it perfect. Samus' clicking gun was something I thought people would enjoy, so good thing you did :)

I will work on everything you've suggested. Thanks a lot for your review, it honestly helps. Good thing you liked it, I hope the sequel doesn't disappoint like most sequels usually do!

Yours,
'Ghost

Fantastic!

This is is an extremely random flash, and sometimes randomness can just turn into stupidness whithout a drop of humor in it, but you have pulled it off. I laughed at this flash alot, and i instantly added it to my favorite flashes. You should really make more flashes with the goat in it as he's hilarious.

Graphically it was a very simple flash, but the simpleness made it effective and funny. If it was more detailed or realistic it wouldnt have the same effect to the viewers. The abstract backrounds and normal backrounds all looked very good, especially the abstract ones, very trippy. Theres not much you can dore graphically to make this a better flash, fantasic.
The animation was very smooth and fitted the whole simple style of the movie, there wasnt much figure animation as alot of the cahracters, only thier legs move, but you dont seem to notice it while watching the movie as your too busy laughing your ass off. ;D

This movie i didnt know what to expect, would it be funny, serious, stupid? But this made me laugh more than flashes i expected to be funny, just the whole idea of a goat eating a mushroom and basically tripping out is hilarious. Not to mention when you showed whats actually happening in real life while he's tripping, side splitting. ;P

The music for the movie fitted perfectly with the whole idea behind it, getting high and freaking out basically. You couldnt of picked a better track as Tenacious D were perfect for this flash. SOund effects like the screaming and the goat jumping up and down on the bin were perfectly added. Nice work.

Overall i think this was a brilliant movie and i really hope you make more in the style of this. Absolutely brilliant. :D

Thanks for the great review, and place on your favorite :D
Glad you enjoyed it so much.
Simplisity is key to this movie. Too much, and it would have been distracting.
Props for the wonderful review

Brilliant

I started to watch this and i didnt know what to expect but i absolutely loved it. The whole story of his life, as he was born to how he became like his father, had kids then died was really touching. When i think about it this is quite a sad flash and i wonder what inspried you to make this.
For two days work this certainly is a masterpiece.

The graphics were awesome. i love your style, i thought it worked really well with the piece and fitted nicely together. Usually when i am writing a review i would take away points for lack of colour and such but the way you used colour in this is very good. Using just couloured outlines to show who people are, essentially merging them with the backround of the piece.

The sound was very good and props to PianoForte for the music. Once again i have to say that i would downgrade a score for lack of sound effects and suuch but i think adding sound effects to this flash would have completely ruined it. the piano music does it all. It shows exactly how sad this flash is.

The only bad thing i have to say about this flash was the appearance of the Grim Reaper. Wasnt really necessary but it doesnt really matter. Apart from that it was very good.

Awesome!

I start to wonder if you have some deep emotional childhood hatred of snowmen?
I loved this flash, the music fitted perfectly with the main concept. Kill Kill Kill!
The style was simple yet enjoyable and looked good, Nice animation and prett consistant throughout the flash.

The best parts are the staredown at the end and the crying kid. Made me laugh.

Thank you sir. And your the first to comment on the crying kid. But nobody had commented yet on the similar hat style as Kyle from South Park. Haha
